§ Mr. Platts-Millsasked the Minister of Transport whether he can now give an undertaking that all money spent by the railway companies on propaganda against the Transport Bill will be deducted from any compensation payable in respect of the nationalisation of the railways.
§ Mr. BarnesAs I have previously informed the House, expenditure on propaganda incurred by the railway companies would not fall upon the Control Account with the Government under the Railway Control Agreements. I have not thought it necessary to deal with the points expressly in the provisions of the Transport Bill. I have no doubt that the railway companies will deal properly with any such expenditure in their accounts.
