Mr. Baldwinasked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the necessity for overtime labour during haymaking and harvesting which has been increased by the operation of double summer time, he will take steps to arrange for prisoners-of-war labour to be available for overtime work; and whether prisoners who do work overtime will be paid in accordance with the statutory agricultural wage.
§ Mr. T. WilliamsThe answer to the first part of the Question is that prisoners will be available for overtime work. As regards the second part, prisoners are paid by the military authorities in accordance with the scales of pay fixed for them.
