HC Deb 31 July 1947 vol 441 cc66-7W
Major Lloyd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the will now announce the date on which Poles in civilian occupations in this country may apply for naturalisation.

Mr. Ede

I am anxious that facilities for naturalisation shall in due course be made available for Poles who have passed through the Resettlement Corps into occupations in this country; and, when further progress has been made in disposing of the existing heavy arrears of naturalisation work, I propose to make an announcement as to the date from which it will be practicable to entertain applications from Poles who have been re-settled in this country and have the statutory qualifications of good conduct, knowledge of the English language, five years' residence and the intention to reside in His Majesty's Dominions or to serve under the Crown.
