§ 47. Mr. H. Wallaceasked the Minister of Agriculture, whether he is aware that persons who offered their services to agriculture are now being informed that accommodation cannot be provided for them; how many volunteers have been rejected up to the present date; and whether there are more or fewer camps this season as compared with 1946.
§ Mr. T. WilliamsI am aware that the volunteer agricultural camps are fully booked over the popular holiday period of August and early September during which my Department has been unable to accept a number of volunteers, but there is ample accommodation later in the year when the need is greatest. The camps this year provide for a total of 140,000 volunteer-weeks as compared with 109,000 in 1946.
