Mr. Vaneasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the report of the district auditor, dated 18th November, 1946, on the disappearance of sugar amounting in all to 1,209 lbs. from the stores of Durham County Mental Hospital; what disciplinary action has been taken; and whether the rations of the patients have been made good.
§ Mr. BevanMy attention was drawn to this matter and I am informed that following an inquiry by the visiting committee one of the officers concerned was reduced in rank and the other was dismissed. I am also informed that the patients did not suffer any reduction in their sugar ration.
