§ 83. Mr. Kirkwoodasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the shortage of timber for housing and the urgent need for houses in Scotland, he will now arrange to cancel permits for the supply of timber to hydro-electric and similar schemes which have a priority higher than that granted for housing purposes.
§ Mr. WestwoodNo. It has been decided that we must for a time give precedence to projects which will increase our resources of fuel and power. The allocation of timber for essential hydroelectric purposes amounts to less than two per cent. of housing needs.
