§ 37. Mr. Skeffingtonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the total allocation of dollars to merchants in Aden for one year; and on what basis this total amount is divided among individual merchants.
Mr. Creech JonesNo definite allocation for the year has been made, but exchange is being made available for the import of textiles and other classes of goods, mainly required for the entrepot trade. It is allocated amongst merchants in relation to their standing in each branch of the trade concerned, and to their ability to import promptly the goods which are urgently required.
