§ 13. Major Beamishasked the Secretary of State for Air, in view of the recent inquiry in Poland into the death of General Sikorski, if he will make a full statement of the circumstances in which the Liberator carrying General Sikorski crashed on 4th July, 1943.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerI am not aware that any recent inquiry has been made in Poland into the death of General Sikorski. As the hon. and gallant Member is no doubt aware, a R.A.F. court of inquiry made a searching investigation into the causes of the accident. It was then established that the accident was due to the jamming of the elevator controls; that the security arrangements on the aerodrome were satisfactory, and that there was no question of sabotage.
