§ Mr. Sharpasked the Minister of Labour the reasons for the relatively high proportion of fatal accidents as opposed to non-fatal accidents amongst adult male workers in the wool, worsted, and shoddy industries, as shown in the 1945 Report of the Chief Inspector of Factories.
§ Mr. IsaacsThe 17 fatal accidents were due to a variety of causes and it does not appear that any useful conclusions can be drawn from their proportion to the number of non-fatal accidents in the year. Further steps for the prevention of accidents in these industries are being considered by the Woollen Trade Joint Committee referred to on page 17 of the Report.
