asked the Secretary of State for War whether prior notice was given to units in the Far East that they were to be visited by the Financial Secretary to the War Office.

All overseas Commands were, of course, informed beforehand of the Financial Secretary's visit so that the necessary arrangements and planning could be made. The extent to which individual units were given prior notice varied from unit to unit.
