HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 cc30-1W
Mr. Garry Allighan

asked the Minister of Works to what date electricity was supplied by Central London Electricity, Limited, to his Department as the present tenants of 20, Grosvenor Square, W.I., under the original long term agreement for those premises entered into in 1934; and what are the terms and date of the contract which replaces it.

Mr. Tomlinson

No electricity has been supplied by Central London Electricity Ltd. to my Department at 20, Grosvenor Square, under the original long term preferential agreement for those premises entered into by the lessor in 1934. From the time of requisitioning in 1941 the best terms which this Department was able to obtain were those of the two-part tariff. This provided for a primary charge of £661 15s. 6d. per quarter, gradually increased to £825 3s. 6d. per quarter as more of the premises were taken over, and a secondary charge of ¾d. per unit, increased to 1d. per unit in 1943.
