HC Deb 20 February 1947 vol 433 c195W
21. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the President of the Board of Trade on what grounds the import is refused of such articles as shoes and gameskin bags manufactured in the Colonies.

Sir S. Cripps

Imports from the Colonies have in general been limited to essentials in order to protect our balance of payments position. Licences have, therefore, been refused for gameskin bags, but I would be quite prepared to consider on their merits any applications for licences to import suitable footwear.
