HC Deb 19 February 1947 vol 433 c178W
Mr. Prescott

asked the Minister of Food what contracts have been entered into by His Majesty's Government for the importation into this country of eggs, butter and poultry products, the quantities involved, prices and periods applicable.

Dr. Summerskill

The Ministry of Food has contracts for eggs with Canada, Australia, Eire, Denmark and other countries. It has contracts for butter with New Zealand, Australia and Denmark. For egg products it has contracts with the United States and Canada. In some instances these contracts are for two or three years and the terms of the contracts are very complex. To give a complete answer to the hon. Member's question could only be done by printing the greater part of some of these contracts, which would occupy a considerable space in the OFFICIAL REPORT. If the hon. Member will let me know what particular details interest him most I will endeavour to provide the information.
