HC Deb 19 February 1947 vol 433 c176W
50. Mr. Shurmer

asked the Minister of Defence, in view of the necessity' for the surrender of deserters and the fact that sentences recently passed on the first men to surrender may not be an inducement to others, if he will consider, in place of imprisonment, imposing as punishment the loss of privileges normally given to men on demobilisation.
