HC Deb 13 February 1947 vol 433 c100W
Mr. Byers

asked the Secretary of State for War the reasons for the sudden withdrawal, without notice, of German prisoner of war labour from Whistley Farm, Milton, Gillingham, Dorset; if he is aware that this withdrawal has resulted in a decline in milk production; and what steps he proposes to take to assist Mr. Bullock, the farmer, to obtain prisoner of war labour immediately.

Mr. Bellenger

Prisoner of war labour was withdrawn from Mr. Bullock, with the agreement of the representative of the war agricultural executive committee, because of his unsatisfactory behaviour towards the prisoners over a long period. Complaints were made by the prisoners themselves, by their camp leader and by the British non-commissioned officer in charge of the prisoners. I understand that Mr. Bullock has obtained alternative labour.
