HC Deb 11 February 1947 vol 433 c49W
108. Mr. Gammans

asked the Minister of Labour how many man hours have been lost by the unauthorised Saturday strikes amongst Clydeside shipworkers.

Mr. Isaacs

According to the information available, on the four Saturdays from nth January to 1st February inclusive, the number of employees of shipbuilding and ship repairing firms on the Clyde who ceased work varied between 25,000 and 28,000, resulting in a loss of some 500,000 man hours.
