HC Deb 11 February 1947 vol 433 c54W
117. Mr. Teeling

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster why, after the Red Cross had informed Mr. R. Edwards, 100, Goldstone Road, Hove, that his fiancee, Fraulein Adele Nitzrath of Dortmund-Brackel, Westphalia, British zone, Kreuzweg 85, had received her visa and that on receipt of £8 for her journey she could travel, she has not yet arrived, although the proper authorities have received the money five weeks ago and all his Department's requirements have been fulfilled.

Mr. J. Hynd

Fraulein Nitzrath left Dortmund on 3rd February and should have sailed from Cuxhaven on 8th February. Owing to an outbreak of diphtheria in Cuxhaven it was not possible for her to leave as planned. It is hoped that she will leave for England on 22nd of this month.
