I assume that my hon. Friend is referring to personal belongings, including currency, confiscated from prisoners of war by the enemy. Compensation for these is the responsibility of the Detaining Power, but, in the circum-36W stances, ex gratia awards of compensation on a limited scale have been made from Army funds.
