§ 98. Mr. Hogg
asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that the Oxford and District Gas Company had to reduce pressure last week by 395W 25 per cent. owing primarily to the poor quality of the coal which causes the furnaces to clinker up; and whether, in the interests of greater economy, he will endeavour to see that coal is more carefully screened.
§ Mr. Shinwell
Yes, Sir. I am aware that there have been difficulties at the Oxford gas works to which the poor quality of some of the coals supplied has contributed. Every possible step is being taken by the National Coal Board to improve the preparation of coals.
