§ 116. Commander Nobleasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty how many scholarships were available to boys from State-aided schools at the Common Entrance Examination for naval cadets in November, 1946.
Mr. DugdaleTen Cadet scholarships are normally available at each entry to boys from grant-aided secondary schools. The quality of the candidates at the November examination, however, was such that 11 were granted on this occasion. In addition, the special Service scholarship available to the son of a rating or ex-rating was granted to a boy from a grant-aided secondary school.
