The total number of insured males aged 16–64 at July, 1947, in the building and civil engineering industries in the London region was 242,000. The number of insured males in the administrative County of London was, at the same date, 125,000. The scope of these figures is different from that of the operatives shown above since the figures for insured workers include non-manual employees within the scope of the Unemployment Insurance Scheme and unemployed workers, but exclude persons over insurable age.
