asked the Minister of Health if he will grant powers to the Louth Rural District Council to permit reconditioning of rural cottages within their area and give some form of financial assistance; and if he will make a statement on the Council's letter which has been sent to him.

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to a Question by the hon. Member for Thirsk and Malton (Mr. Turton) on 30th October, 1947, of which I am sending him a copy. I am unable to trace any recent communication on the subject from the Louth Rural District Council.
