§ 51. Mr. S. Shephardasked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that in Midland factories the output per man hour is showing a downward trend since the four-day working week was introduced in October; and if he will endeavour to institute a five-day week whilst still avoiding power cuts.
§ Mr. IsaacsI have no evidence that this system in so far as it has involved the adoption of a four-day working week, has resulted in a decrease in output per man hour at the establishments concerned. The effects of the load-spreading arrangements are being kept under review by the Regional Board.
