§ 87. Mr. Yorkasked the Minister of Works why no consultation with the Harrogate and District Regional Planning Committee was held prior to the development carried out by his Department in Oatlands Drive, Harrogate; whether he is aware that the completed building offends against amenity and town planning 194W principles; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. DurbinAlthough my Ministry is not required, by statute, to consult the local planning authority, it is our normal practice to do so in regard to new buildings of importance. The building referred to in the question is a temporary hut which has been crected on a site previously occupied by old sheds in the grounds of the requisitioned Oatlands School, Harrogate. I have, however, arranged for my officers to get in touch with the planning committee and discuss their objections and to see what can be done to meet them.
