Member is referring to the Malayan Union where proprietors of country land or more than 100 acres in extent may be required to cultivate with food crops not less than 2 per cent. of their total acreage. By the end of 1946, 35,000 acres, or 1.75 per cent. of the land in question had been so cultivated.
