HC Deb 03 April 1947 vol 435 c352W
Mr. York

asked the President of the Board of Trade what percentage of the total imports of raw materials, other than food, came from dollar countries in 1946; what is the percentage to which he is working for 1947; and what is the volume and cost in dollars of these proportions.

Mr. Dalton

I have been asked to reply. Twenty per cent. of our raw material imports in 1946 came from U.S.A. and Canada at a cost of 275 million dollars. The proportion in 1947 will be higher, and the cost may be around 500 million dollars.
