asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the administration of the Portwey Hospital, Weymouth, where an inquiry by an official investigating committee revealed that the cost from 1st April to 31st December, 1946, per patient per week was £17 6s. 3d.; that the hospital with 150 beds contained over the period surveyed an average of 38 patients at a time; that the medical superintendent with 38 patients had three full-time clerks, the matron had an assistant matron, housekeeper and clerk and the steward had three clerks; and what action he is prepared to take in the matter.
