HC Deb 30 October 1946 vol 428 c99W
82. Mr. S. Shephard

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will cause research to be made into the present production per man-hour in British industry as compared with the immediate prewar period.

Mr. Belcher

I fully appreciate the importance of this subject which is engaging the attention of the Board of Trade. The issues involved, however, are very complex and much careful study is necessary. Meanwhile, I would direct the hon. Member's attention to the "Monthly Digest of Statistics," which contains figures of output and employment in the principal industries.
