HC Deb 30 October 1946 vol 428 cc104-5W
Sir G. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, the amounts of increases which have recently been made in the salaries of senior Government officials in East Africa; and why no simultaneous increases were given to junior Government officials in that territory.

Mr. Creech Jones

As regards the first part of the Question I am sending the hon. and gallant Member particulars of the recent increases in salaries of senior posts. As regards the second part of the Question I have already agreed to a general review of the salaries of the Civil Services in East Africa, to start early in the New Year. The effective date of any increases recommended will be considered in connection with the review.
