§ Major Legge-Bourkeasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement of the subjects covered in the re-education of German prisoners of war by the P.I.D., giving the names of the instructors responsible in each case.
§ Mr. J. HyndThe subjects are numerous and varied but in general are designed to prepare the prisoners of war for their reintegration into a democratic Germany. The re-education scheme gives prominence to the eradication of any reliance on the German military tradition and the ideology of Nazism and to the appreciation of democratic principles and the working of democratic government. The scheme is extensive and includes lectures, visual education, films, courses in English, instruction for youth and attendance at a special training centre. There is a panel of 216 part-time lecturers and I am sending the hon. Member separately a list of the lectures given in the last four weeks and the names of the lecturers, together with the syllabus for the last term at the training centre and the names of the resident staff.
