Mr. Janner

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Claims Commission has yet started work in Malaya; and whether he has yet received a reply to the suggestion that some scheme should be evolved for making interim payments in cases of exceptional hardship.

For the reason given in my reply of 16th October, the Malayan Claims Commission has not yet started work. The answer to the second part of the Question is in the negative.
