HC Deb 24 October 1946 vol 428 cc9-10W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General when those employed in his Department, who were evacuated to Harrogate, will be able to return to their homes.

Mr. Burke

The serious shortage of office accommodation in London rules out for the time being the return of any body of evacuated staff whose work can continue to be carried out elsewhere than in London. In these circumstances I regret that I am unable to indicate when it may become possible to effect the return of the Post Office staff now at Harrogate.
