§ 79. Mr. T. Reidasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if any decision has been made on the Mauritius Committee's 311W proposal to restrict the legislature franchise to those who satisfy an educational and property test.
Mr. Creech JonesThe proposals for amending the Mauritius Constitution were recently placed before the Mauritius Council of Government for consideration. No decision will be taken on any of the proposals until I have received the recommendations of the Governor, which will be framed in the light of local discussions in which all sections of the population will have the opportunity of stating their views.
