HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 c183W
110. Mr. Perrins

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware of the concern amongst building trade craftmen in the Birmingham area due to the shortage of plasterers' trowels; and if he will take steps to make supplies available.

114. Mr. J. Paton

asked the Minister of Supply if he is aware that, in Norwich, building trades' steel tools, particularly plasterers' trowels, are either non-existent or in short supply; and if, in view of the adverse effect of these shortages on the building programme, he will take steps to increase supplies.

Mr. Wilmot

There is a general shortage of these tools, due mainly to the shortage of skilled labour and an enormously increased demand. We are doing all possible to increase output, and meanwhile manufacturers have been asked to distribute the available supplies as fairly as possible according to local needs.
