asked the Minister of Fuel and Power the consumption of petrol by motorists in this country during 1945.

Mr. Shinwell

The total imported motor spirit entered for home consumption during the year 1945 was approximately 6,000,000 tons. This figure includes requirements for military purposes. I have explained in reply to other Questions on this subject that I do not feel able to give separate figures for military and civilian use.
