HC Deb 14 May 1946 vol 422 cc215-6W
Mr. J. J. Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland by what means he proposes to utilise to the fullest extent the services of the small building trade employer in solving the present housing problem in rural Scotland.

Mr. Buchanan:

I am pleased to say that we have introduced a scheme under which a local authority may, with the approval of the Secretary of State, arrange for the erection of small groups of houses by small builders who are not in a position to tender in the normal way. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of a recent circular outlining the arrangement.
