HC Deb 13 May 1946 vol 422 c148W
100. Mr. Walker

asked the President of the Board of Trade why the Wavell Mill at Helmshore, Harlingden, has not been declared redundant; and why the mill is allowed to remain unoccupied and unused in an area ripe for industrial development.

Mr. Belcher:

The Wavell Works at Helmshore was declared to be redundant to the requirements of the Ministry of Supply in December, 1945. Since then, a number of industrialists have inspected it at the suggestion of the Board of Trade but none has so far applied for it. The Board of Trade is, however, hopeful that a way will be found to put it to good use.
