HC Deb 13 May 1946 vol 422 c141W
Mr. Mitchison

asked the Minister of Supply whether he will make arrangements for second-hand rifles and ammunition, which have been surrendered to the police or are otherwise surplus to requirements, to be sold to county rifle associations desiring to purchase rifles instead of hiring them from the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Wilmot:

We have made arrangements with the National Rifle Association to sell to them in bulk, for re-sale to their affiliated members, rifles and ammunition declared surplus to us by the War Office. The quantity at present available is small, but if my hon. Friend knows of any case where a county association has been unable to purchase these rifles or ammunition, and will let me have particulars, I shall be glad to look into it.
