§ Mr. Medlicottasked the Minister of Transport if he is satisfied that the arrangements for the delivery of mail to the crews of merchant vessels are uniformly speedy and efficient; and if he will draw the attention of shipowners to the importance of this matter in the interests of the men and their families.
§ Mr. Barnes:The delivery of mail to crews of merchant ships is, so far as I am aware, generally satisfactory. In certain areas, however, notably the Far East, occasional delays may be experienced because of local conditions, but as recently as 22nd March, 1946, the Ship 138W ping Federation, at my request, drew the attention of shipping companies to ways by which deliveries in these areas might be improved.
