HC Deb 13 May 1946 vol 422 c140W
74. Mr. T. Brown

asked the Minister of Supply what steps are being taken by his Department to supply machines, excavators, etc., to local authorities and private contractors for the purpose of speeding up the building programmes which are now being held up due to the lack of the essential machinery.

Mr. Wilmot:

The industry is fully loaded with orders. We are helping them in every way we can. The larger types, and all surplus excavators, are subject to allocation. Nearly all surplus excavators are unfit for use until they have been reconditioned.
