109. Mr. Driberg

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will expedite the repatriation on compassionate grounds of 14401073 Sergeant T. M. Yule, Ordnance Branch, H.Q., Burma Command, S.E.A.C., whose application has been under consideration by the military authorities and by S.S.A.F.A. for more than three months.

Mr. Bellenger:

This case was not reported to the War Office by the command concerned until 29th April. The necessary investigations are now being carried out through welfare channels and the command will be informed of the results of these investigations as soon as possible. It will then rest with the Commander-in-Chief to decide whether or not repatriation on compassionate grounds would be justified.
