HC Deb 08 May 1946 vol 422 c91W
62. Mr. Collins

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that district food executive officers have been instructecd to forward correspondence from Members, of Parliament to divisional headquarters; and if he will explain the reason for this instruction.

Sir B. Smith:

Yes, Sir. This instruction applies to all correspondence from Members of Parliament except that which concerns a Member personally as a consumer or producer of food. The reason for the general instruction is that Members of Parliament frequently raise questions involving wider considerations that would normally be within the cognisance of a food executive officer.
