86. Dr. Seǵalasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will ensure an ample supply of screw capped bottling jars to be made available in good time before the fruit bottling season commences.
Mr. Belcher: I cannot promise that there will be a fuller supply of bottling jars than there was last year, and I am afraid that the public may again have to make use of jam jars with special closures. We are doing everything we can to assist the glass container manufacturers, but they are faced with heavy requirements of bottles for other important food and drink and for medicines.
