§ 103 and 104. Sir J. Mellorasked the President of the Board of Trade (1) why the slip, correcting Related Schedule No. 2A to S.R.O., No. 179 of 1946, bears no date; when it was published; and why this correction, reducing maximum prices for certain cloths by 3o per cent., was not made by an amending Order presented to Partliament in accordance with Section 17 (2) of the Goods and Services (Price Control) Act, 1941;
(2) why the slip, correcting Related Schedule No. 2A to S.R.O., No. 179 of 1946, was not presented to Parliament following presentation of the Order and related Schedule on 14th March.
§ Mr. Belcher:The hon. Member appears to be under a misapprehension. This Related Schedule, as made and signed contained the correct figures as shown in the corrigenda slip. The incorrect figures which appeared in the published copies were due to printers' errors. The slip was issued on 26th April, 1946. It has not been the practice, and is not considered necessary, to insert the dates of issue or slips of this nature. Maximum prices were not reduced as a result of the issue of the correction, and no Amending Order was required. As the slip was not it the nature of an Amending Order, there was no obligation to lay it before Parliament pursuant to Section 17(2) of the Goods and Services (Price Control) Act, 54W 1941. Copies of the Order distributed by the Vote Office, after the issue of the slip, would contain copies of the slip.
