§ Mr. Lawson:There are approximately 87,000 members of the Japanese armed forces in Java and Sumatra. 63,000 of these are under our control and obey our orders. Our troops have not yet made contact with the remainder, who are reported to be under the control of the Indonesians in East and Central Java.
