HC Deb 22 March 1946 vol 420 c430W
Mr. Shephard

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied that all precautions have been taken at Aintree, Liverpool, to prevent a repetition of the Bolton football match tragedy.

Mr. Ede

Any question of the safety of the stands on the Aintree racecourse is a matter for the rural district council, while the regulation of the crowds is the responsibility of the county police. I have no reason to doubt that appropriate measures will be taken by the responsible authorities.
