§ Dr. SummerskillI understand that recent reports indicate that no maize has been sold for use as fuel in the Argentine during the past three months. As regards the second part of the Question, my Department is buying maize in the Argentine as opportunity offers, bearing in mind that, during the present shortage of wheat, preference must be given to the supply of maize for direct human consumption particularly in those countries such as South Africa, where it is a staple foodstuff.
