HC Deb 04 March 1946 vol 420 c7W
Lieut.-Colonel Corbett

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware of the damage being done to farm roads and buildings by the continued non-availability of rubber tyres for tractors; and what steps he proposes to take to improve the supply.

Mr. T. Williams

By arrangement between the Board of Trade and my Department, rubber tyres are now being supplied to tractor manufacturers for the great bulk of the output of new tractors. In addition, rear rubber tyres are being made available in increasing quantities for converting agricultural tractors at present fitted with steel wheels. The supply of rubber tyres for agricultural tractors is constantly under review, and everything possible is being done to increase the production of such tyres.
