HC Deb 04 March 1946 vol 420 c3W
31. Squadron-Leader Fleming

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will permit the coupon-free sale of Manchester textiles, namely, towels which have deteriorated through long storage in warehouses, because British housewives have not coupons to spare for the purchase of such goods.

Sir S. Cripps

It is already possible to dispose of rationed goods at reduced coupon rates provided they are sold below certain prescribed prices. I have no information to suggest that there are stocks of towels deteriorating in warehouses and I would be glad to look into it if the hon. and gallant Member would let me have particulars.
