§ 6 Mr. Toucheasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the shortage of leather for providing soles for shoes, particularly in the borough of Reigate; and whether any steps are being taken to improve the supply.
§ Sir S. CrippsThe shortage of leather has made it necessary to restrict shoe repairers and shops selling leather for home repairs to 60 per cent. of their usage in 1940–41. I am glad to say that this quota will be increased to 66.2/3rd per cent. on 1st April. If there are any cases in Reigate in which the full quota is not being received, I will look into them at once.
